Sustainability Program in China

At Covanta Energy Asia Pacific, we have a responsibility to “give back” and do so by investing in the communities where we operate by providing jobs for local residents, supporting education, the environment, social and economic development. We are putting those ideals into practice in Chongqing Municipality and the provinces of Fujian and Jiangsu where we operate Energy-from-Waste facilities.

In Chongqing, where we operate a facility in Tongxing, our employees dug in and helped repair a ditch wall in danger of collapsing in the village. The facility also contributed to the construction of a new community cultural center.

Employees have also contributed money to the Chinese Red Cross Association to provide humanitarian relief to earthquake victims. Similarly, Covanta employees at our Fuzhou Hong Miao Ling facility donated funds to the Fuzhou Red Cross Society for earthquake victims. Through monetary contributions and blood drives, employees at our Taixing facility have also contributed to disaster relief efforts over the years.
