Becoming Part of the Community

From the moment Covanta begins implementing a project, it adopts a long-term role of engaged corporate citizenship. Through local Chambers of Commerce and other civic groups, Covanta joins with local businesses, donating time as well as funds to help address important service and facility needs unique to the quality of life of each community Covanta serves. Integrated Waste Management

Covanta works with communities to integrate existing community waste reduction, recycling and diversion programs and helps communities initiate and integrate new programs that evolve during the life of the project. For example, Covanta has initiated a number of programs to remove undesirable materials from the waste stream such as mercury and pharmaceuticals, offering free disposal and bounties to encourage homeowner separation and responsible disposal of such materials.
