Covanta Plymouth Renewable Energy LP. began commercial operation in February 1992 for the Waste System Authority of Eastern Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, which controls the waste flow for 22 municipalities. The facility, which operates as Covanta Plymouth Renewable Energy LP., processes approximately 1,216 tons per day of municipal solid waste, generating greater than 32 megawatts of renewable energy sold to Exelon. The facility is equipped with a water cooled turbine-generator condenser used to convert steam to water for continuous cycling of water through the boilers.
